Create a movie that you’re proud to share with your family and friends. That’s what I would choose to say if someone were to ask me “what can I expect from Video Edit Magic?” This DeskShare product lets you blend together videos, photos, effects, transitions, and text. Arrange everything as you see fit, preview your work, and when you think you’re done, you can turn your hard work into a movie and save said movie as an AVI, MPEG, WMA, WMV, ASF, or MOV file.

Since a setup wizard will guide you through the whole thing, it’s safe to assume that you won’t have any problems getting Video Edit Magic up and running on your Windows PC. It must be mentioned there that you can use Video Edit Magic for free for a trial period of 30 days. But you’re not likely to forget that you’re using a trial version. You’ll be reminded when you launch the application, when you access the Make Movie function, and when you close the application.

A Quick Start Windows will show up by default when you launch Video Edit Magic. It features the following options: edit video, audio and image (media) file; create a new project; open an existing project; capture footage from a camera; view an interactive tutorial; open the help documentation.

The interface is just what you would expect from an application of this type. Collections, in the upper left hand corner, presents the media files, video effects, and video transitions you can use for your project. Preview, in the upper right hand corner, lets you preview your project. Timeline, down at the bottom, lets you arrange project elements (videos, transitions, photos, and so on) in whatever order you see fit.

As mentioned above, Video Edit Magic is free to use for a trial period of 30 days. I bring this up only to add that any movie you create with the trial version will carry a “Video Edit Magic Trial Version” watermark. When the 30-day trial period expires, the Save Project, Capture, and Export functions will be disabled.

DeskShare has two video editing tools to offer: Video Edit Magic and Auto Movie Creator.

Combine videos, transitions, text, and other elements and come up with an interesting movie that you can show your friends.

Pros

A simple setup wizard will help you install Video Edit Magic on your Windows PC. Help documentation is available; there’s an interactive tutorial as well. The interface ha a familiar layout; you’ll immediately feel at home if you’ve used similar applications in the best. Mix together videos, photos, audio, text, transitions, and effects. Turn your project into an AVI, MPEG, WMA, WMV, ASF, or MOV movie.

Cons

Trial limitations: 30-day trial, watermark on output, nag screens.
